Mauser 98 Sporter 8mm $550

Here we have a Mauser 98 Sporter in 8mm. The barrel measures approximately 24". The rifle was probably built in Germany as the features are indicative of a classic German sporting rifle. The left side of the receiver is drilled for some form of optic mount. That may be a later edition as there is some chipping of the wood around it. It is worth noting that this rifle features a particularly nice example of a Greener style safety, it is significantly easier to use than most.

Rifle is in very good condition overall. The wood shows a variety of handling marks, as well as the previously mentioned tripping around the scope mount area, but no major damage. There is a light spot on the underside of the barrel. This appears to be where a sling swivel stud was mounted and later broke off or was removed. Otherwise the metal is excellent with only minor imperfections. Everything appears to function properly. The bore is bright and does not show any pitting.
