Antique Winchester 94 38-55 $1500

Here we have a customized Antique Winchester model 1894 in .38-55. The work is nicely done and appears to be professional, is configured as a sort of deluxe short rifle. The serial number is 146969 which indicates it was made in 1898. It features a 20.5" barrel, checkered wood furniture including a decorative bit of checkering near the butt plate, Marbles sights, polished breech block and loading gate. The barrel was presumably shortened but the show evidence of another front sight having been where the current one is.

The metal is excellent as refinished with some minor traces of where and pitting visible from before the refinishing. The wood show some dark spots from where that occurred before it was refinished and a few minor handling marks from after the work. Checkering is nice and sharp. Action appears to function properly. The bore looks frosted with shallow pitting and strong rifling.
